Pyramidal Orchid

Pyramidal Orchid

When to see:

Late May to early August.

Where to see:

Look out for the distinctive conical shaped arrangement of flowers on this beautiful orchid throughout the limestone grassland of Berry Head, particularly on the south slope of the main headland.

Did you know?:

Orchid seeds do not contain enough nourishment to produce leaves and flowers initially. To make up for this, the seed relies on fungus in the soil to provide nourishment, taking years to develop before the plant finally flowers.
