Heritage Storyteller

It’s our job to keep the story of Torbay’s natural heritage alive. We do this through ….

Chicken Ranger

Education

We host hundreds of school visits and groups every year with around 7,000 children and adults enjoying ranger led activities across our sites.

Visitor Information

We have visitor centres at Cockington and Berry Head, run by volunteers. Our centres provide an invaluable resource for heritage information. At Cockington Visitor Centre you will find a selection of high quality unique gifts too.

Events

We run events and activities throughout the year across all our sites for families for children and for adults. These range from wreath making to to bat and nature walks. All our events raise funds that go towards caring for Torbay’s green spaces and places. See what’s coming up!

Natural Heritage

How we are funded

Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust is a local independent charity. Our funding comes from various sources and are used to deliver our charitable work.

Membership

Our membership scheme generates vital funds to support our charitable work in Torbay. As a member you will be supporting the care of Torbay’s green spaces so that future generations can enjoy them too. Members can also purchase a Parking Pass which offers free parking to our car car parks located in scenic locations. More about TCCT Membership Scheme.

Legacies and Donations

We rely on donations and legacies to help us. You can make one off donations or set up a regular gift. We also welcome those that remember their special local places by leaving us a gift in their will.

Play Tyre Climbing Frame

Grants

Grants can help us to restore or regenerate specific projects. In recent years grants have funded the installation of a new play park in Cockington and special cameras in the bird hide at Occombe Farm.

Torbay Council

The majority of the land managed by the Trust is leased to the Trust by Torbay Council. Torbay Council pays the Trust a Management Fee for managing the land through a Service Level Agreement. However, the Trust is an independent charity with its own board of trustees and specific charitable purpose. It is not governed or directed by Torbay Council and its remit extends beyond providing simply managing land for the Council. The Trust works in partnership with Torbay Council and others for the protection and enhancement of Torbay’s natural heritage for the benefit of the community and visitors.

Enterprise

All Trust site car parks are chargeable and managed for the us by an external company, Park with Ease. All the funds raised from parking supports the our charitable work. All proceeds from the sale of gifts at our Cockington Visitor Centre supports our conservation work in Torbay. And buying a cup of coffee, enjoying a cream tea or tucking into a home-cooked lunch at Occombe Farm Cafe helps us too!
