RHS Recognition for Cockington Memorial Rose Garden

Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust (TCCT) is delighted its beautiful Memorial Rose Garden at Cockington Country Park has been awarded a certificate of recognition for 2020, by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and South West In Bloom.

These annual awards are a nationwide community gardening competition that normally attracts towns, villages, cities and urban communities from across the country to participate every year.

Despite the COVID pandemic RHS say that this year they have seen an amazing sense of community spirit. It is widely acknowledged that people have felt closer to nature through lockdown and valued access to green space so much more. RHS have learnt that people are valuing the work the TCCT team at Cockington are doing more than ever before. This award recognises the importance of all those involved and the valuable work they carry out.

TCCT’s Mardie Short, Lead Gardener at Cockington Country Park said:

“We enter our Rose Garden for this award every year but were unable to do so in the same way this year. For our hard work to continue to be acknowledged by RHS and our local community is therefore hugely rewarding and touching”
