24th Green Flag Award for Cockington Country Park

Great news! Cockington Country Park has been awarded its 24th Green Flag! This is a massive achievement, especially in the face of the ongoing COVID19 pandemic, at a time when our staff and volunteers have dealt with challenges brought about by the park’s huge numbers of additional visitors.

A Green Flag Award is issued by Keep Britain Tidy and is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.

We are honoured to care for such a beautiful place in Torbay but this level of care could not be achieved without the massive contribution made by our small army of local volunteers. We could not have achieved the Green Flag for 24 consecutive years without the generous help of Cockington’s friends and volunteers, for which we are extremely grateful.

Parks and green spaces have never been more important for our physical and mental health. We can all recognise that this pandemic has brought us closer to nature and we all now value our local parks and green spaces more than ever before. Research shows that spending time in the great outdoors can improve our health and wellbeing.

Green Flag awards are normally announced in July, but have been delayed this year due to Covid-19.
