Cockington Country Park Flies the Flag for Excellence – Again!

We’re proud to announce that Cockington Country Park has once again been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award, marking it as one of the UK’s very best parks.

This international quality mark is awarded to parks and green spaces that are well-managed, safe, welcoming, and support the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve. In 2025, a record-breaking 2,250 parks and green spaces across the UK have achieved Green Flag status – a clear sign of their growing importance for public wellbeing and environmental sustainability.

26 parks and green spaces in Devon received recognition in this year’s Green Flag Awards, celebrating their quality, care, and value to local communities.

The Green Flag Award celebrates outdoor places that give people access to clean, safe and thriving environments. Parks like Cockington provide vital opportunities for exercise, connection with nature, and peace of mind – all essential for healthier, happier communities.

This award recognises the efforts of our talented gardeners, rangers and volunteers who work tirelessly to make Cockington a welcoming haven for both people and wildlife.

Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, Chief Executive of Keep Britain Tidy, said:

“Our quality parks and green spaces make the UK a healthier place in which to live and work, and a stronger place in which to invest.”

The Green Flag Award was launched 29 years ago and set the benchmark international quality classification for parks and green spaces.

The scheme is managed by Keep Britain Tidy in partnership with Keep Wales Tidy, Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, and Keep Scotland Beautiful, under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. It sets the international benchmark for excellence in the management of parks and green spaces.
