Cockington Dog Day is Pawsome!

Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust’s popular annual dog day is returning to the country park on Sunday 19th August 2018

This fun canine event, now in its third year, is a celebration of all the park’s doggie visitors with a fun dog show and lots of specialist pet organisations and companies offering demonstrations, stalls, advice and much more.

The fun Dog Show is by far the main event and all dog owners are invited to bring their pooch along to participate. There are a variety of show classes suitable for every shape, size, age and breed. Seymour Vets have kindly sponsored doggie goody bags for winners and Sam Clark from Farlap Photography, one of the UK’s leading specialists in canine photography, has offered a free pet portrait for the first place winner in each group.

Although the weather is due to be a bit cooler than of late, there will be plenty of dog water stations, shady trees and even a paddling pool for pooches to cool off in!

The Dog Day is organised by caretakers of Cockington Country Park, Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust. This annual event raises vital funds and awareness for Cockington’s Green Heart Project, responsible for the care and restoration of the park, improvements to the visitor experience and the development of the volunteer programme.

Also working with the Trust to bring you this fun day are dog rescue and rehoming charity Galgos Del Sol, who work with Spanish greyhounds that have been abandoned on the streets. The money raised from the dog show will also help support the amazing work they do rehoming these special dogs with loving families in the UK.

The fun starts at 11am until 4pm. Parking is available in the village and at Cockington Court with additional parking available in the field along Cockington Lane (weather permitting); just past the village centre car park and follow the signs from there.

Entrance to the event is free, with £1 per dog for the dog show and a suggested donation of £2.50 per car for parking.
