Heritage Trail

Heritage Handling Box

Orienteering

A self-guided trail with associated activity sheets to allow you and your students to explore the estate of Cockington and discover more about its history and heritage. Follow the trail and stop at each point to discover a fact or do a  linked activity.

The box contains resources to enable learners to put Cockington’s human-related history into context and to enable them to explore and engage with the heritage display in the visitor centre. It contains items such as flints, animal skins, tools, clothing and other items and is ideal for self-guided visits or to complement a Ranger-led session.

Learners compete  individually or as part of a team to navigate between locations in the park marked on an orienteering map. For additional challenge they can compete against each other to complete the course in the quickest time. Can be run as a Ranger led session - please speak to us to arrange.
