Wild Food & Outdoor Cookery With Children

Children love picking sweet blackberries in autumn and turning their picked blackberries into a tasty treat. But, there is so much more than blackberries to forage in the wild. This one day course will give you the skills to be able to identify wild food that can be found around your local area and give you the confidence to lead a foraging session with children. The course will also provide some simple recipes to cook with the children in an outdoor environment or back in the kitchen. 

Course Agenda 

The course will run from 10am - 4pm you can arrive from 9:45am and enjoy tea, coffee and a yummy snack

Introduction to safe wild foraging

Explore our organic farm and learn about the safe plants to identify and eat with children. Forage the hedgerows and take your finds back to our kitchen to learn simple ID techniques.

Wild Cookery in the kitchen

Get hands on in the kitchen and learn how to lead a simple cookery session with children using the delicious ingredients you have foraged.

Lunch Lunch around the campfire 
Outdoor Cookery

Learn how to create the perfect campfire and safety around the fire, followed by cooking some of the dishes you have created in the morning session on the fire. 

Wild forage

Enjoy an afternoon forage and then head back to our classroom to hone your ID skills


Essential Information

Please bring the following with you; waterproofs, warm clothing, sturdy footwear, notebook and pen.

Please note that foraging is seasonal and ingredients and recipes will change from course to course. There may also be slight variation in the sessions delivered.
