A Tramper is an electric all-terrain mobility scooter designed specifically to cover rough ground, mud and grass safely. They can handle steep slopes and bumpy terrain with ease. Supplied by Heritage Ability, a Heritage Lottery funded project to make heritage sites more accessible, Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust is able to offer one tramper for hire and use within Cockington Country Park. In order to hire the tramper you must be a member of the Countryside Mobility Scheme, which costs £10 for the year (or £2.50 for a two week taster membership). You can become a member at the time of hiring the tramper, (please allow additional time for this). Membership of the scheme allows access to nearly 40 Countryside Mobility sites around South West England. Tramper use is limited according to the opening times of the VC as follows:
April to end of October 10am to 12.30pm or 1pm to 3.30pm
November to end of March: 11am to 12.30pm or 1pm to 2.30pm
It is also possible to hire the tramper for the whole day.
Training is provided on how to use a Tramper lasting approximately 15 minutes for new users.
The tramper costs £2.50 per hour to hire (a security deposit of car keys or driving licence will be required). All proceeds go to the Cockington Green Heart Appeal to help improve the park for everyone.

Please note: You must be minimum 14 years old to hire the tramper. You must be accompanied by someone who is able to walk the route unaided. You should bring a working mobile phone with you for your safety in case of problems.
