Warren Barn Residential Centre
Warren Barn is located within the grounds of Cockington
Country Park in a secluded wooded valley. First restored
in 1994, with a new roof, it has now been converted into
a residential centre for school and community groups.
As a Camping Barn it includes a large communal kitchen
and dining area downstairs with separate male and female
dormitory accommodation upstairs.
Cockington is a traditional country estate, complete with
manor house, church, formal gardens, village, water-wheel,
woodlands, orchards, meadows and pasture. It is famous
for its well kept thatched cottages and pleasant environment
right on the edge of Torquay and only minutes from the
sea-front. It's a landscape full of suprises and views
over Torbay , with wildlife and history to match.
Groups staying at the Barn can book activities at any
of the Trust sites. We can also offer a programme of
activities during your stay. The Barn sleeps 36 in 2
dorms.
The ground floor is wheelchair friendly with a
disabled access bedroom and bathroom. There is a staff bedroom upstairs.
There is a fully equipped kitchen and dining area and inside toilets with showers.
The Barn's location makes it an ideal base for orienteering,
navigation exercises, night walks, team-building challenges,
mountain biking as well as other field work. The Trust
also organises training courses in rural skills such
as stone-walling and hedge-laying. The Barn is very close
to the Gamekeeper's Cottage which groups can also utilise
and to Occombe Farm.
