BERRY HEAD LAUNCH WENT OFF WITH A BANG!

The Trust opened a spectacular new visitor centre and cafe at Berry Head NNR on Friday 19 March.

The launch event marked the culmination of Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust's £1.8 million HLF funded regeneration project at the site, which aims to protect the site for the future.

Over 140 invited guests attended the launch event and the official opening was made with speeches by Chairman of the Trust, Tim Key; Torbay's elected Mayor, Nick Bye; Steve Warman of Natural England and Tony Richardson of the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Nine soldiers from the Napoleonic Association then fired their muskets from the Northern Fort, declaring the new centre officially open.

The Visitor Centre is a fantastic place for finding out more about this very special site.  If you are planning a visit to Berry Head, take a look at the new website too which will help you put together an itinerary and tell you more about what to look out for:  www.berryhead.org.uk
