ROCKY SHORE ECOLOGY FROM THE SEASHORE CENTRE

We offer intertidal biological surveys for GCSE and A-Level groups. These rocky shore surveys, carried out at various sites around Torbay, offer an excellent opportunity to learn about zonation and carry out comparison studies using transect and quadrat sampling. The sessions can also be designed for individual projects.

For the next 3 years between the months of June to October we can also offer the opportunity to take part in the MarLIN project; Shore Thing. Shore Thing is an initiative of MarLIN the Marine Life Information Network, working with schools to collect information on the marine life of rocky shores around Britain. The data recorded will go towards creating a national database of verified and validated intertidal species for the UK , and In doing so they hope to strengthen the links between education and marine research in the UK
