New Pig in Town!
22nd June 2010
Over the weekend we held our clay oven building course, which was a great success! The course was run by Jo Clark from Embercombe, and we had 11 eager participants who helped to build our splendid pig-shaped oven, while learning the skills necessary to be able to build one of their own.
Different aspects of the course included making a basket from hazel and willow to build the oven around, mixing the clay (including puddling it with feet!), making the basic oven structure, and then decorating it to create a pig!
The oven will take a few weeks to dry fully and be usable, but in this weather it might be quicker than expected.
