Marvellous Moths
20th June 2010
Occombe's Marvellous Moth weekend took place on 12th and 13th June. We began with a fascinating talk by expert Richard Fox from Butterfly (and Moth!) Conservation. We were all surprised to learn that there are over 2000 species of moth and as darkness fell we set-off down to the meadow to see what the moth traps had caught.
We were all amazed by the variety of moths we found in the traps...Blood Veined, Straw Dot and many more. Later in the evening we began to find larger moths such as this incrdible Poplar Hawk Moth. The next day many of the group returned to the farm to see more of the moths that had been caught throughout the night.
