Bee Orchid, Chicks and More!
1st June 2010
The group on the wildflower walk at the weekend with Nigel Smallbones, were treated to the first Bee Orchid of the season. This is flowering on the bank opposite the visitor centre. The wildflowers are going over quickly at the moment as it has been so dry and warm (not that we want to complain!) The Harbour Porpoise are active off the end of the headland again, we havent had any sighting for around a month, so it is great to have them back.
Have we got our first Guillemot chick of the season? We're not sure, the trainees working on the study plots were sure they had one at the weekend. They are very hard to see even with the camera, as the adult birds shield them carefully under their wings to help avoid them being predated on by crows and gulls. Come and have a look at the LIVE images in the visitor centre.
