Inspired by Berry Head
29th April 2010
A book of poems about Berry Head was presented to our new Visitor Centre yesterday. The Poetry for Pleasure group, based at Brixham Library, includes poets who exchange ideas and feedback, as well as those who enjoy listening to poetry. Berry Head was chosen as a theme, all of the group were amazed at the scope and the variety of contributions. No two people had approached the subject from the same angle. The aspects chosen ranged from the geological and historical, through pastoral and botanical to the emotional and personal - how the beauty and wonders of Berry Head made people feel.
Photo:Mary Williams (Poetry for Pleasure), Angie Weatherhead (Community Librarian) Mary Willliams, of the Poetry for Pleasure group thought it would be a great pity for the poems to be put into desks or folders and be forgotten or mislaid. On behalf of the group she compiled the poems and with another Brixham Artist, Sally Taylor, illustrated the poems and assembled them into a small book. Each copy contains poetry alongside beautiful hand illustrations. Pop in to the Visitor Centre and have a look for yourself!
