We welcome school and group visits to Occombe Farm as well as other
Trust sites. We can offer an exciting, innovative and different
experience that focuses on food, farming and the countryside. Occombe
is a fully working 150 acre organic farm centred on a Site of Special
Scientific Interest.
A new Visitor Centre has been constructed in the farmyard containing a
Farm Shop, Butchers, Bakery, Café and Education Centre. A 2km nature
trail has been installed through the nature reserve as well as a network
of cameras that beam pictures back to the Education Centre and a suite of
computers connected to the internet.
We are accredited by the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme
and have developed a package of activities for groups visiting the farm and
nature reserve but we are also able to tailor activities to your needs. In
addition we run very successful educational visits at our other sites around
Torbay, particularly:

Group Visits
Details of educational visits to Occombe and other Trust sites can be found on the main Trust website here. We can also cater for adult groups who are interested in a talk, walk and lunch in the Bakehouse Cafe. Group Activities
These are some of the activities available for groups visiting the farm.
Bake bread in the Occombe Bakery and learn about the history of bread. Examine the issues of fair-trade and food miles by looking at what we sell in the farm shop Learn about the differences between organic and conventional food and farming Walk the 2km nature trail and visit the bird hide Map the farm Meet the organic livestock View the network of cameras around the farm from the computer suite Activities identifying the birds, plants, mini-beasts and other animals that live on the farm.
Activities are mapped against the QCA schemes of work and can be tailored to
